KYOTO visit – Zen Temple and Miyako Odori
KYOTO
One of the most traditional cities in Japan. The calm, elegant and unique culture can bring back you to the deep history.
You can feel its 1300 years old history when the city was the capital of the country.
There are countless Zen temples you can visit. Here are some I visited;
If you go to Kyoto during Spring, please allow time to visit ‘Miyako Odori” (Miyako Dance), which is the old historical dance.
#1. Miyako Odori
Miyako Odori happens during Spring time, which runs for around 80 days with 5 performances a day since 1872. This is the symbol of starting of the spring.
In the theater, right and left side of the stage has traditional instrument players sitting and play their instrument through the show. During the show, taking photos is prohibited. It is amazing to feel the history of Kyoto culture and traditional dance performance.
Before the dance, all the guests are served with Green tea and Japanese sweets prepared by Geiko. This is also a special experience to have a green tea and traditional Japanese sweet with Geiko Tea Maker.
The ticket price is around $50 including the tea ceremony and dance performance on the 1st-floor seating. The ticket can be booked online.
